Let's Connect!
Cowichan Valley Lifestyle Photographer
Capturing authentic moments, raw emotions, and the beauty of human connection
Welcome! I am so glad you are here. I'm Sheena, a lifestyle and portrait photographer based in the beautiful Cowichan Valley. Known for my emotive style and a touch of moody darkness, my work has a depth that resonates. Even in the shadows, I am always chasing the light, creating powerful, authentic images that tell a story. My greatest passion is capturing love, connection, and genuine emotions. I believe every story deserves to be told in a way that feels true to you. My sessions are a safe place for all humans and bodies and in every session, I aim to bring out the true essence of my subjects, creating images that feel both timeless and deeply personal.
Photography isn’t just my job; it’s my passion, and every image I create holds a piece of my heart.
Let’s create something unforgettable together.
How It All Works
Whether you’re booking a family session, a couple shoot, or your wedding day — here’s what to expect from inquiry to gallery delivery.
Step 1: Reach Out
Start by sending an inquiry through my Booking Site for the session type you’re interested in. I don’t offer instant online booking because I love to connect personally with every client first — it matters to me that we’re a good fit. *We also discuss location details.
Step 2: Let’s Chat
Once I receive your inquiry, I’ll get back to you quickly with my availability, session details, and answers to any questions you might have. From there, we’ll make it official with a signed agreement and a retainer to secure your date.
Step 3: Get Ready
I’ll send over any helpful prep info you need (like what to wear or how to prep little ones), and we’ll touch base about the vibe, location, and feel you’re hoping for. You don’t need to stress or overplan — just come as you are. I’ve got you.
Step 4: Shoot Day Magic
We meet, we wander, we create. My sessions are relaxed, playful, and built around connection. No overly stiff poses — just honest moments that feel like you.
Step 5: Behind the Scenes
After your session, I carefully hand-edit each image to reflect the emotion, story, and beauty of what we created. This part takes time and heart. - *Regular sessions (families, couples, grads, etc.):* 2–3 weeks - *Weddings + events:* 6–8 weeks.
Step 6: Your Gallery is Ready
You’ll receive a private online gallery where you can download your images in high resolution, share with loved ones. Your story, in all its magic, ready to hold onto forever.
A Safe Space for Every Human
Who you are is always welcome here.
My sessions are a safe, affirming space for all humans- all bodies, all identities, all love.
Photography is about trust, and it's important to me that you feel able to be your full self in front of my lens. This is a place you don't have to shrink, pretend or perform- just show up as you are- I'll meet you there.
Awards and Recognition
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT & ENVIROMENTAL RESPONSIBILTY
I acknowledge, with respect and gratitude, that we are gathering on the traditional, unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, specifically the Quw’utsun (Cowichan) Tribes.
For generations, the Quw’utsun people have cared for this land, the waters, and all that lives here. I honor their deep connection to these lands and recognize the ongoing impacts of colonization. As I work, create, and gather in this beautiful place, I commit to learning from Indigenous perspectives, fostering meaningful relationships, and supporting reconciliation efforts in our community.
Caring for the earth is deeply important to me, both personally and professionally. As a photographer, I have the privilege of working in some of the most beautiful natural spaces, and I believe it’s our responsibility to respect and protect them. I am committed to leaving the land as I found it—no trampled wildflowers, no broken branches, no disruption to the delicate ecosystems that make these places so special. Art should never come at the cost of nature. Instead, I strive to work in harmony with the environment, capturing its beauty while ensuring it remains untouched for future generations to enjoy. Sustainability and mindfulness are at the heart of my approach, and I encourage everyone I work with to share in that respect for the land. Whether it’s sticking to established paths, avoiding fragile areas, or simply being aware of our impact, small actions make a big difference. Together, we can create stunning images while honouring and protecting the natural world around us.
